Recently, I became more interested in the work related to the implementation of aesthetic dermal pigmentation. These include working with scars, e.g., in breast area after plastics surgery and various color camouflage of skin imperfections.

There isn’t a lot of information in the internet on this topic. I do not know how big is demand for this trend in other countries, but for a long period of time, the percentage of those interested in our town (Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) is rather small.

And every time I’m happy to take such cases, while addressing my colleagues in dermatology and cosmetology for the spread of information regarding this service.

Recently I completed several works on camouflaging vitiligo. For those of you who may not know what it is, I will give a small explanation:

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition characterized by portions of the skin losing their pigment. It occurs when skin pigment cells die or are unable to function.

There’s not a lot of Information about this phenomenon. At first glance, there is nothing to worry about. It is not dangerous neither for a person with vitiligo nor for the people around him.

I don’t have the heart to call it “disease“

But people do experience psychological discomfort due to partial absence of pigment in the skin.

I remember the stories of one of my former colleague with whom I worked in the same salon. She hid areas with depigmented skin any season of the year. That was the first time I drew attention to this skin defect, and only because she asked me for opinion on how to deal with this issue. At that time I worked as a beautician a little more than two years. I wasn’t doing any permanent makeup procedures therefore I couldn’t help her.

Although I do remember asking her: “why do anything if it doesn’t cause any uncomfortable physical sensations?” To which she strictly replied that she was bothered by sidelong glances, and people being uncomfortable around her, especially at the beach.

What can I say…

Human ignorance is generated by fear of the unknown, which makes the existence of people with different «distinguishing marks» on their bodies very awkward.

before and 21 day after the procedure (not completed work!)

Many years later, I began to pay attention to the people with this problem, and if there were someone with whom I was familiar, I asked them about possible attempts to solve it.

So I collected statistics, and made my conclusions along the way. But even today, I still have a lot of questions about this strange phenomenon called «vitiligo».

after the procedure and 10 days later (not completed work!)

Over the past two months I had several procedures on camouflaging depigmented patches of skin. Due to this, new questions have arisen.

For example, which pigments to use for camouflage of vitiligo.
